Step By Step

1 joining new ball

We are showing this in single crochet, but the technique is similar for other stitches. To add a new ball at the beginning of the row: Work the last stitch of the row with the old yarn, turn your work.

Cut the old yarn and pull on the last stitch until the end pops through

Insert the hook into the first stitch, scoop up the new yarn and pull it through. You now have a loop of the new yarn on your hook

Work with the new yarn to make your turning chain

Continue working with the new yarn for your row

To add a new ball in the middle of a row: Start your stitch in the regular way using the old yarn, but stop before working the final wrap-around. Insert the hook, loop your yarn, pull the yarn through and then stop!

Loop the new yarn around the hook, leaving a longer tail.

Pull the new yarn through the remaining two loops to finish the stitch.
