Let's drop some stitches - intentionally - and create a stylish 'ladder' effect
Ladder stitch is a perfect way of giving your knitting a little bit of grunge look. It’s created by ‘dropping’ stitches and letting them run – creating ‘ladders’. Sort of like when you get a ladder in your tights – but a lot more fun!
For ladder stitch, you need to drop a stitch across a few rows. Creating a hole in your knitting.
Once you've formed your ladder, you need to stop the stitch. Take a little bit of yarn and tie it to the stitch so the ladder doesn't run under the bottom. Turn the knot to the back of the work, push the ends into an adjacent stitch.
