This how-to will show you how to make an alternating double crochet join, which seams together two separate crochet sections. In this how-to, we have used a 5mm crochet hook and the yarn is Shiny Happy Cotton in Cameo Rose. Lets get started!

To begin, place your two pieces together with the wrong sides facing each other.

Attach your yarn to the corner chain space of the square on the bottom and then chain 3 stitches.

Work 3 double crochet stitches into the corner chain space on the top square.

Work 3 double crochet stitches into the next chain space on the bottom square.

Work 3 double crochet stitches into the next chain space on the top square.

Repeat these steps until you have 1 chain space remaining, work 1 double crochet stitch into this space.
