In this video you will learn how to crochet a basic granny square.
First, tie a slip knot, place it over the end of your hook and make a foundation chain of 4 stitches.
You are now going to join these 4 stitches into a little ring by making a slip stitch into the first stitch of your foundation chain.
The next step is to crochet 3 stitches. Now work 2 double crochet stitches into the center of the little ring.
Repeat that to make another double crochet stitch into the ring.
Next, chain 2 stitches and work 3 double crochet stitches into the ring.
You are going to repeat these steps twice more until you have 4 groups of 3 double crochet stitches.
You are now going to join your first round by working a slip stitch into the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of your round.
That's the first round of your granny square complete!
To begin working round 2, first chain 3 stitches. You are now going to work 2 double crochet stitches into this hole here.
You will do that at the start of every round when you are working your granny square: chaining 3 and working 2 double crochet stitches into the chained space below.
The next step is to chain one stitch and then chain 2 and then work 3 double crochet stitches into the next chained space.
It is important to remember that whenever you come to a corner, you will always work 3 double crochet stitches, chain 2 and then work more 3 more double crochet stitches. You only ever chain 2 when you are on a corner. On the side, you will chain Continue with this sequence until you reach the chained space where you started.
Now that you've reached the chained space you started you need to complete that corner by making 3 double crochet stitches. Chain 2 and join your second round of your granny square by making a slip stitch into the 3rd chain stitch at the start of your round.
