How to: Weave in your Ends (Stocking Stitch) - Step 1

Step 1

Thread your sewing needle with your yarn tail. You need to weave your yarn end in on the wrong side of your knitting to make sure it stays hidden.

The best way to weave in your yarn tails is to follow the stitch structure. Start by going down under the first horizontal bar, then up under the horizontal bar immediately to the right of the first one.

Then locate the horizontal bar directly above the two bars you have just gone under, take your needle and yarn under this horizontal bar from bottom to top, then back down the the horizontal bar immediately to the right of this one.

Take your yarn back down under the second horizontal bar, and then up through the bar immediately to the right of this bar.

Then locate the horizontal bar directly above the two bars you have just gone under (the same bar you came back down through before), take your needle and yarn under this horizontal bar from bottom to top, then back down the the horizontal bar immediately to the right of this one.

Keep going in this pattern for 2 to 3 stitches until your yarn tail is secure. Cut your tail leaving a 1cm tail.
