How To Knit An I-Cord (with straight needles) - Step 1

Step 1

The I-cord technique produces a chunky tube of knitting. When working with straight needles, you will have to transfer your stitches from one needle to the other after each row.

Cast on your stitches (In this example we use 4 stitches).

Make sure your stitches are held in your right hand.

Take the top of your left needle and transfer each of these stitches onto the left needle by inserting your needle through the stitch from left to right.

All the stitches should be positioned onto your left hand needle now.

Grab your yarn, even though it is attached to the other end. Knit your first stitch as normal, pull this stitch really tight.
