Knit according to your pattern until you get to the thumb.

Cut a length of yarn and thread a sewing needle with it.

Slip the thumb stitches onto sewing needle.

Turn your knitting around and cast on using the cable cast on technique.

Turn your knitting back to the right side.

Divide your stitches evenly between the needles.

Join your piece back up for working in the round and continue knitting according to your pattern.

You’ll now have an opening ready for your thumb!
