Once you’ve worked your foundation chain, work one additional chain stitch, this is your turning chain and you must work this step at the beginning of every row.

Your going to work your first single crochet stitch into the second chain stitch from the hook.

Insert your hook through the stitch.

Wrap the yarn over your hook, and pull it through the first loop on your hook. you now have 2 loops on your hook.

Wrap the yarn over your hook again, and pull it through both loops on your hook to complete the stitch.

Repeat steps 3 to 5 into each stitch along the foundation row.

To work into a previous row of crochet, start by making 1 chain stitch as you did at the beginning of the first row. Don’t work into the turning chain.

Insert your hook under the two horizontal bars of the next stitch. Wrap the yarn over the hook and pull it through this stitch. You now have 2 loops on your hook.

Wrap the yarn over your hook again, and pull it through both loops on your hook to complete the stitch.

Repeat steps 8 and 9 to the end of the row.

Repeat steps 7 to 10 to work another row in single crochet.
