Insert your crochet hook into the corner of your fabric, pull your yarn through, and make 1 chain stitch.

Make 1 single crochet stitch.

Leaving a gap of approximately 1cm, make 5 double crochet stitches into the next stitch.

Leaving another gap of approximately 1cm, work 1 single crochet stitch.

Then leaving another gap of approximately 1cm and make 5 double crochet stitches into the next stitch.

Continue repeating these 6 stitches along the edge of your piece: 1 single crochet stitch, leave a gap of 1cm, 5 double crochet stitches.

Once you reach the corner, work 5 double crochet into the corner stitch.

Depending on the size of your piece, leave an appropriate sized gap in between your single crochet and 5 double crochet stitches.

Continue repeating this till you have completed your crochet scallop edging.
