The word sustainability has popped up a lot in recent years, especially from brands, and we know that for a lot of people it’s begun to lose its meaning.
For us, being mindful of our environmental impact has been a part of our DNA from Day 1. However, we know there is always more that we can do. So let us introduce you to “Crafting A Better Future”, our way of documenting our journey towards exactly that – a better future.
We’ve been sharing updates on this page, the most recent being April 2024. This is a space for us to tell you what we’re working on, what’s going well and what we’re hoping to do better. We know that being a business and being sustainable are slightly at odds with each other, but for us this is about being the best brand we can be with as little impact on the environment as possible.
So for now, we want to thank you for coming on this journey with us, and keep your eyes peeled for the Crafting A Better Future logo, it will be there to show you our most planet–friendly kits and yarns.

A CONTRACT WE’VE INTRODUCED WITH OUR SUPPLIERS WHICH 100% OF THEM HAVE NOW SIGNED.
This sets an expectation either in line with, or above, international standards on how we expect people, animals and the planet to be treated.
OUR TAKE CARE MOHAIR IS NOW RMS CERTIFIED.
The Responsible Mohair Standard verifies mohair animal welfare and land management requirements and tracks it from farm to final product.
FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS, WE’VE BEEN CALCULATING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT AS A BUSINESS (SO THAT’S EVERYTHING FROM DELIVERIES TO KEEPING OUR WEBSITE RUNNING) AND OFFSETTING IT BY DONATING TO CARBON POSITIVE PROJECTS IN PERU, WHERE A MAJORITY OF OUR YARNS ARE SOURCED.
100% OF OUR SUPPLIERS THAT DYE YARNS ARE EITHER REACH COMPLIANT OR OEKOTEX CERTIFIED, THIS MEANS NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS ARE USED IN THE DYEING PROCESS.
MULESING IS A CRUEL SHEEP FARMING TECHNIQUE THAT CAUSES PAIN AND DISTRESS TO THE ANIMAL.
We only work with suppliers that don’t do this, meaning 100% of our wool is non–mulesing.
Us crafters know that making your own clothes is already a more sustainable option, but looking after them well is also a big piece of the puzzle. That’s why we teamed up with Restoration London to bring you this tutorial for three different visible mending techniques. Perfect for 8mm (US 11) knits, we’ve demonstrated these with our Alpachino Merino on the beginner-friendly Audrey Sweater. Happy mending, Gang!
