Step 1

Casting off is the last step in knitting as this secures all of your lovely stitches in place. To begin, by knit your first 2 stitches.

Then use the tip of your left hand needle to lift the back stitch on the right hand needle up and over the other stitch and off the right needle completely.

Knit the next stitch.

Then use the tip of your left hand needle to lift the back stitch on the right hand needle up and over the other stitch and off the right needle completely.

Step 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have no stitches left on your left needle and 1 on your right needle.

Step 6

Cut the yarn leaving a tail measuring approx. 15cm / 6”, then pull on the yarn tail until the end pops through securing the last stitch. And there you have it, your stitches are now safe and sound.
