12 Days of Making: Personalised Letters

 It’s the 6th day of making and time to think about wrapping. Give your presents a personalised touch with these yarn-wrapped letters. It’s a great way to make use of your spare yarn, or a good excuse to get your hands on some more!

Time: 15 minutes

Size: Approximately 8cm x 5.5 cm, depending on the letter

The Tool Kit:

  • Shiny Happy Cotton of your colour choice, we chose Lipstick red.

  • Cardboard

  • Double Sided Tape

Instructions:

STEP 1:

Cut the letters you want out of stiff cardboard.

STEP 2:

Wrap double sided tape around the horizontal edges.

STEP 3:

Cut short strands of cotton, just a few cm long and stick them to the double sided tape vertically so that it covers the horizontal edges.

STEP 4:

Stick double sided tape over the whole letter on top of the cotton already there

STEP 5:

Peel off the tape backing and then wrap the cotton around the letter horizontally

STEP 6: Cut the thread when the letter is completely wrapped. All done!

There you have it! An easy way to put a personalised touch on all the gifts for your friends and loved one’s!

  1. I think this is a great use of spare pieces of yarn, and what festivity for the holidays! Now I need to go pick up some double sided tape so I can make these wonderful letters!
