A little bit of stuffing.

Instructions

The star is made by creating two star shaped halves, then joining them and stuffing the insides. Repeat the following instructions twice to make each half.

All techniques are listed above with links to instructional videos, should you need them. Let’s get started!

  1. STEP 1: Day12_Steps01
Start by making a magic loop and working 5 stitches in single crochet around it. Join the round by making a slip stitch into the first stitch of the round.

(your piece should look something like this now)
Increase round: Make 1 chain stitch. SC3, SC2 into the next stitch* repeat the section inside the stars to the end of the round. Sl st to join the round. (25 stitches)

  6. STEP 6: You will now start making the 5 points of your star, you will stop working in the round, instead working back and forth on each point.

  7. STEP 7: Day12_Steps03
Make 1 chain stitch, work 5 single crochet stitches. Turn your work.

  8. STEP 8: Sl st, SC4, turn your work.

  9. STEP 9: Sl st, SC3, turn your work.

  17. STEP 17: Sl st, SC1. Cut the yarn and pull on the loop until it pops through – you have now secured your last stitch.

  18. STEP 18: Repeat steps 12 to 17 twice more.

  20. STEP 20: Sl st, SC1, do not cut your yarn.

  1. STEP 21: Day12_Steps05Now you will work in single crochet around the edge of your star shape to make a neat edge.

  2. STEP 22: Working anti clockwise around the edge of your star work 5 single crochet stitches on each edge of the star. (50 stitches)

  3. STEP 23: Cut your yarn and secure the last stitch. Leave the ends, we can trap them inside the star.

  4. STEP 24: Repeat steps 1 to 23 once more to get the other half of your star. Don’t cut the yarn to secure the last stitch, leave it attached to your ball of yarn.

  5. STEP 25: Now it’s time to join the two stars together.

  6. STEP 26: Place your front and back panels on top of each other, with the wrong sides touching, trap all the ends between the two stars.

  7. STEP 27: Working anti clockwise around your stars, insert your crochet hook through the first stitch of your star and the corresponding stitch of the star underneath. Wrap the yarn around your hook, and draw through both of the stitches, wrap the yarn around the hook once more and draw through to create a chain stitch.

  8. STEP 28: Day12_Steps07
Work anti-clockwise around the star in single crochet until you have seamed ¾ of the star. Make sure to go through both the front and back of the star with every stitch.

  9. STEP 29: Day12_Steps08
Now stuff your star with left over yarn or anything squishy you can find!

  10. STEP 30: Continue working anti-clockwise around the star in single crochet until you have reached the point you started and the stars are sealed together and the ends are hidden. Make a slip stitch into the first stitch.

  11. STEP 31: Cut the yarn approx 30cm/12’’ from the last stitch. Pull on the loop on your crochet hook until the end pops through.

  12. STEP 32: Make a loop approx 6cm to hang your decoration and secure the end to the top of the star.

  13. STEP 33: Hide any loose ends inside the star.
