Knitting has been a part of the Peruvian way of life for centuries so when Wool and The Gang set off on their quest to be the best they could be from an environmental and ecological perspective whilst providing maintaining the highest possible quality and workmanship in their designs, the Inca gods must have been calling and drew them deep into the South American hills.
From day one, WATG has collaborated closely with a community of generations old, skilled artisans, and has built a tight relationship. Every few months they visit the team leaders who farm out their projects to groups of women in remote villages who really benefit from work that allows them to stay at home.
Each WATG piece has been handcrafted from start to finish and Is utterly unique. Every time you wrap yourself in the cosiest alpaca or feel the smoothness of softer than soft pima cotton against your skin you are helping the woman that knitted it to look after their family and remain part of a supportive community.
This is very important to us, and on behalf of all of our fantastic Peruvian artisans we would like to say thank you to all you ‘Woolies’ out there who are doing their bit to keep an age-old tradition ‘alive and knitting’.
